Delta Rock and Gilks Collaborate at New Sweets Factory Build

One of the many exciting projects our sister company Gilks (Nantwich) Ltd is involved with, is the installation of a 158,000ft² manufacturing facility based in Middlewich, for iconic UK confectionary brand Swizzels Matlow. The name more familiarly associated with our childhood favourite sweets; Love Hearts, Drumsticks and more recently Squashies.

Gilks have been responsible for the electrical design & installation of this new facility with a commitment to improving the energy efficiency to benefit the new build.  With the lighting and communication systems installed the project has moved onto the manufacturing side of the design, with the arrival of the production line equipment. Overhead cable tray and cabling, along with junction boxes have been designed to suit the production operation.

It was at this stage that Gilks called upon the in-group expertise of Delta Rock, for our industrial electrical and automation engineering, to install the power infrastructure for the plant’s production equipment. Care has been taken with the segregation of the power and the control cabling of the equipment, to ensure there is no interference between powerful and tributary cables.

Gareth Hitchmough, General Manager of Delta Rock says, “The collaborative effort demonstrates the capabilities Delta Rock has in-house and it’s great to work alongside Gilks on a very prestigious project”.

Although the two businesses, Gilks and Delta Rock, work very independently of each other, the expertise across the organisations provides a huge breath of knowledge and experience for electrical engineering services within the group. This is a tremendous benefit for specific projects, such as the new facility for Swizzel Matlow.
