Meet the Team – Expanding our Automation Expertise

Expanding our Automation Expertise

For many years now, we have been committed to developing the necessary skills we require as a business, and to support the industry. This has been predominately through our apprenticeship scheme, but we also encourage the continuous development of our staff to improve their skills and expertise through a range of training and qualifications.

Providing Opportunities to Grow

When Pier joined Delta Rock, it was to support the company’s plans to strengthen its on-site electrical team with a focus on their control and automation expertise. Delta Rock design, manufacture and maintain a wide range of electrical and control panel systems for the manufacturing, processing and other industry sectors.

Having a range of electrical experience and qualifications, (Level 2 & 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations, Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection Testing, and Building Regulations – 18th edition wiring regulations-7671), made Pier a favourable choice to bring into the Delta Rock team, to support the electrical and automation services of the business.

With Delta Rock’s diverse portfolio of projects and employee opportunities for further development, the role offered was the perfect type of challenge and opportunity that Pier was looking for.

Building on Potential

After only a short time being with Delta Rock, it was recognised that Pier had a great skill base, electrical knowledge and work ethic. With a keenness to progress and Delta Rock seeing Pier’s potential to further support the control panel system side of the business, he was enrolled on a Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installations.

Based upon Pier’s acquired previous training and experience, it was acknowledged that he was ahead of his course peers. To progress him further, it was decided to place him on a fast-track 2-year plan of the course. Whilst his peers continued to cover the basic principles of electrical engineering, Pier has one-to-one meetings with his college lecturer who assigns him appropriate study material. This allows Pier to study in his own time, with a test set for each module.

Pier will still need to build up a portfolio of the electrical work he has done, either within Delta Rocks’ workshop or on-site projects. Following completion of all coursework, his portfolio and exams, the final test will be the AM2 exam. The AM2 is a three-day practical assessment that confirms an electrician’s occupational competence across a full range of electrical installation and testing skills.

Future Progression with Delta Rock

Already a valued part of the team and working within Delta Rock’s workshop, building control panels for a range of automation projects, he also spends his time working alongside our professional team on-site. On-site he supports the diverse range of electrical installations across a variety of industrial settings.

Pier continues to progress with the fast-track Level 3 Electrical Installations qualification, which will enhance his skill base and provide him with a recognised qualification, to enable Delta Rock to progress and develop his role and responsibilities.

Once complete this will place Pier in an excellent position to support the Automation and Control Panel Design team, and progress with the growth of Delta Rock.

Great work Pier, continue the great work and we all look forward to watching you progress with the growth of the Delta Rock Group.
