Our Future Electrical Engineers
Meet Leon: A New Addition to the Delta Rock’s Apprentice Team
We’re thrilled to introduce Leon, one of our latest addition to the Delta Rock family! As a passionate young individual with a keen interest in engineering, Leon has embarked on the start of his exciting apprenticeship journey with us. Let’s delve into his story and discover what he brings to the team.
From Classroom to Workshop
Leon’s interest in the world of engineering was sparked at a young age, thanks to his family’s heritage. This early exposure ignited a passion for practical work that would later lead him to pursue a career in electrical engineering.
After completing his GSCE’s in Physics, PE, and Business, Leon made the decision to combine academic knowledge with hands-on experience and study electrical installation and plumbing at college. His college course in electrical installation and plumbing solidified his preference for practical tasks and the satisfaction of seeing a project through to completion.
Enjoying his college course, propelled Leon to try and gain an apprenticeship in electrical engineering that could further his knowledge and help him gain vital hands-on experience and a recognised qualification.
A Match Made in Industry
It was at a job fair that Leon discovered Delta Rock. Our focus on industrial electrical engineering, particularly control panel and system design, immediately caught Leon’s eye. The prospect of working on challenging projects within a dynamic industry setting was also an exciting prospect, rather than a domestic electrician route.
Delta Rock’s commitment to nurturing talent and providing opportunities for growth resonated with Leon. He saw the apprenticeship as a chance to develop his skills in a supportive environment and build a solid foundation for a successful industrial electrical engineering career.
Early Days at Delta Rock
Leon’s first few months at Delta Rock have been a whirlwind of learning and experience. He’s already gained familiarity with essential electrical components, such as armoured cable and conduit, and has honed his skills in cable tray manufacturing and ladder rack cutting.
Shadowing experienced electricians on-site has provided invaluable insights into the day-to-day operations of the industry. Leon appreciates the opportunity to learn from skilled, experienced professionals and is eager to contribute to the team as a qualified electrical engineer.
A Bright Future Ahead
Leon’s enthusiasm and dedication are evident in his work. He thrives on the challenges and rewards of the industry, finding satisfaction in completing tasks and seeing the tangible results of his efforts.
Continue to Develop Skills
Working on a variety of projects, means Leon continues to gain a variety of experiences with no week or days being the same.
A recent project involved Leon working on the decommissioning of an outdated robot cell. This has given Leon a taste of the variety and complexity of industrial electrical projects. Working on the project will enable Leon to see the site transition to a full working assembly line, a dynamic process, which he is excited to be part of.
Outside work life
Outside of work Leon is a keen follower of football. This has been an interest since a child, which he shares with his family and continues to enjoy away from work.
