Meet the Team – Pete

Meet the Team – Pete

After the recent announcement of his promotion from Senior Projects Manager to Operations Manager, we thought it would be a great time to share the wealth of experience Pete has brought to the team at Delta Rock and his career journey.

Pete only joined Delta Rock last year in September 2022, and came with a wealth of experience working at senior levels, along with knowledge and expertise in electrical and instrumentation engineering.

Where he began

It was no surprise that Pete chose a career in Electrical Engineering, as it was really in his blood, having worked in the family industrial electrical engineering business from the age of twelve. From that early age Pete watched the electricians and engineers in the office, fueling his interest in electrical engineering.

Once finished school, Pete took the apprentice route to qualify as an electrician. During his apprenticeship, Pete studied at college and worked on-site gaining crucial skills and experience. Once qualified Pete spent two years on site working as a qualified electrician.

Always eager to move on, Pete was keen to move to a role in the office. The opportunity came in the role as an Estimator, which he grab and never looked back. This gave Pete the initial experience of managing contracts from the initial tendering process to implementing jobs. After three years working within the family business, as an Estimator, he felt it was time for a change and a new challenge.

Moving from Electrician to Estimator Roles

The next role was again as an estimator, but as part of a much larger local industrial electrical engineering company. Working within a much larger organisation offered Pete greater opportunities to gain a range of experience and progress further.

Pete’s role saw him quickly move from Estimator to Project Engineer. His responsibilities now included the management of the complete projects, from tender stage, to estimating, through to on-site project management, cost control and job completion, plus liaising with both site teams and the clients.

Working in industrial electrical engineering has seen Pete work on projects in a range of industries, including food and beverage, waste management, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical and process engineering.

With his wealth of accumulated knowledge about business management and electrical and instrumentation experience and expertise, Pete reached the role of Company Director. For most people reaching that role would be the pinnacle of their career and they would be happy to remain in that role.

Not Pete. After twenty-seven years with the business Pete was itching for a new challenge.

Pete started to reflect on the time he spent within one business, where he saw himself in the future and what type of business he wanted to work with going forward.

Moving to Delta Rock

This coincided with an opportunity arising at Delta Rock and his initial discussions with Scott Davis (co-owner of The Ethikos Group and owner of Delta Rock), regarding the progression plan he had for Delta Rock.

Delta Rock was an established company, but at the exciting next stage of growth. This opportunity would provide Pete was a new challenge. The role would also allow Pete to have more of an influence on the direction of the business and its planned growth.

Pete started his role as Senior Projects Manager at Delta Rock. With his drive and the impact, he has had over a short period of time in pushing Delta Rock forward, it was quickly acknowledged what an integral role Pete played within the business. It’s why just over a year on, he gained a significant promotion to Operations Manager, working directly alongside the recently promoted Managing Director, Gareth.

Pete’s responsibilities are not just the day-to-day management of projects, but also managing the team and client base, and working closely with the Managing Director (Gareth) and CEO (Scott) on the direction and growth of Delta Rock.

He has already proceeded to make the role his own and introduced a number of key operational changes to benefit both the internal team, customers and the business.

Pete said,I was in a great role, but after 27 years in one business I still felt I wanted to progress. I was keen to have a greater influence and involvement in growing a business. The opportunity at Delta Rock couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s provided me with the challenge I was looking for. I’m keen to progress Delta Rock and I’m fortunate to be working alongside a great team to support the business in reaching its goals”.

Outside of work, Pete has several interests that keep him fit and busy. Always up for a challenge, he recently took up running again and completed a half marathon. He also enjoys golf and cycling.

Scott Davis, co-owner of The Ethikos Group, parent company of Delta Rock Group, said “Although Pete has been with us for a relevantly short period of time, it was obvious from the initial meeting that Pete could be a huge benefit to Delta Rock. His wealth of expertise and experience is superb, which linked to his high standards of work and professional attitude and ethics, which sits perfectly with The Ethikos Group. We knew he would very much align to Delta Rock values and vision for future success and growth. It was therefore great to gain Pete as part of the team. His recent promotion was very much in recognition of his hard work and commitment to Delta Rock. We know in his role of Operations Manager; he won’t sit still but will continue to progress the business and continue to make it a success”.

It’s an exciting time for both Pete and Delta Rock, as we move forward into another chapter with our newly appointed management team.
